The future's right

App Center. Orange.

A much needed update to an uninspiring App Store

Design direction, UX, UI, Dev handover

Requirement

Orange had their own App Store in development, but it offered nothing that would make it a viable alternative to its competition, even with exclusive Orange deals to be had. I was brought on to explore their competitors and other Orange brand sites to identify areas where we could add value for both the customer and the business.

Home page

Previously offering no sense of engagement for the first time or return user, the new designs, with the help of a customer login, now display recommended apps, phone and contract upgrades based on their usage.

As well as this, the page design is now much more reflective of the brand guidelines and offers a much better flow into the rest of the site.

Apps & Games pages

With a limited library of apps available at the time, the original designs were sparse and, much like the home page, unwelcoming.

The new layouts have been configured so returning users coming direct to these pages are offered a complete experience, with featured and recommended apps and games, and categorised, data-led, brand-focused and searchable content.

Lorem from a lack-of-identity crisis, the only recently refreshed Spark44 site offered a stark layout lacking much personality; instead, it leant more on the company’s business side and forgot to present the creativity it deserved.
